@beautybyreade – Creative Instagrammers

In this blog series ‘Creative Instagrammers’, we introduce you to some of the inspiring creators on Instagram who have developed their own unique style. We’ll be asking them about how they make their content, the challenges they face and for tips and advice to get those creative juices flowing.

Introducing Creative Instagrammer: @beautybyreade

Where did your inspiration come from to start sharing beauty content on Instagram and transforming yourself into different characters?

Well I’ve only been within the beauty community 3 years now and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I started with light eye shadows and then found myself getting more and more creative within my makeup, before I new it I was turning myself into all kinds of things!

When you have an idea for a makeup look, what is your creative process? How long does it usually take?

That would always depends on the look that I’m doing, I love to make my own props and anything to go with my looks, I find it adds that extra sparkle so I’ll start them the day before. When it comes to the looks I can spend anything up to 10 hours – [I’ve] recently been timing myself and I’ve been doing most within 5/7 hours after taking photos etc.

You sometimes have objects appearing to be coming out of your skin, what was the initial idea behind this and how does it work?

I’m absolutely obsessed with the idea of illusion makeup, whether that’s products coming out of my skin or shading to make it look like it’s 3D, I think it all adds to the character and sometimes actually brings the looks together. I’d advise any creative makeup artist to try it, step outside that comfort zone, it’s surprisingly really fun!

@beautybyreade was nominated for a Blogosphere Award in the Beauty influencer of the year category. #BlogosphereAwards2021

What look was the most challenging to do and why?

I would say every single one of my looks a challenge in their own little way, but I would say skulls and anything with major detail are the most challenging because you always want them to be perfect.

Is there a particular post you are particularly proud of?

This might sound quite biased but I’m really proud of all of my make up looks, I feel like I’ve come a long way over the last three years but I’m most proud of the work that I’ve created over the last year.
I’m also really proud of being nominated for Beauty influencer of the year, by far one of my biggest achievements – again THANK YOU.

What’s your favourite beauty product to use for your creations?

I’m absolutely obsessed with PLouise bases, she does so many colours and they’re so amazing to get creative with and build shadows to shade and give definition – 100% couldn’t live without it.

Are there any beauty influencers you’d love to collaborate with?

NikkieTutorials without a doubt would be the highlight of my life, she’s such a massive inspiration, not only with her make up or her videos but as a role model to thousands and thousands of people. She’s beyond talented and beautiful…. Nikki if you ever see this… CALL ME!!! xo
