bCreator CEO update: The importance of taking a break

I’ve not been the best at this over the years…

In 2017, I went on holiday to Bali for 5 days, but ended up spending the majority of it on my phone trying to sort out a fundraise. When I should have been enjoying Ubud, I was working out Ebitda.

You’re no good to anyone if you’re burnt out and sick

– Alice Audley

I think I pretty much had a cold every 6 weeks in 2017, and by the October and my second attempt at a holiday (climbing Kilimanjaro – turns out that’s not a relaxing holiday), I realised something had to give. You’re no good to anyone if you’re burnt out and sick.

So I decided when I took breaks in the future, I would do just that – actually take a break. Although not 100% perfected, I do now switch off the phone for a bit and put the OOO on. And it seriously makes the world of difference.

We’ve branded to bCreator!

The start of 2023 has been full on:

  • we’ve rebranded (hello bCreator),
  • we’ve recorded an entire series of the podcast (launching on Wednesday),
  • we’ve pulled together a new issue of the magazine (coming in June)
  • we’ve put on the 300 attendee bCreator Travel Show!

After 3 months of intense graft, it was time for a break after the event. So I took 10 days and went to recuperate in West Dorset – spending time at the seaside and on a farm looking after piglets. It was just what the doctor ordered, and a far cry from being on stage in Shoreditch!

The UK Health and Wellbeing Creator Show

I’ve now returned feeling refreshed and ready to go for Q2. I’ve found that when you prioritise your Health & Wellbeing, everything else seems to fall into place… Speaking of Health & Wellbeing (see what I did there), that’s what we’ve got coming up in Q2.

On June 30th, we’ll be running the bCreator Health & Wellbeing Show – for brands, industry platforms, and creators in the space.

Be sure to register your interest below! Also, if you’re looking for some amazing Health & Wellbeing creators to follow: here are our shortlisted creators from the bCreator Awards in 2021 & 2022!
