Nominate in the bCreator Awards 2024

In the spotlight… Eboni + Ivory

1. When did you first start blogging (and why)?

I first started blogging in 2016. It was just after I had finished a three-month run of a show in London, and I was feeling creatively empty. I watched a lot of YouTube videos at the time, and saw that many of my favourites had started blogging before YouTube. I decided to give it a try. It meant (and still does) that I was able to stay creative between my acting, and performing work. I was able to have total autonomy over my creativity, which suited me well!

2. What is your favourite type of content to create?

I absolutely love creating travel videos and content. This is peppered with elements of fashion, but travel has always been a huge part of my life, many years before I started blogging. I love creating travel vlogs especially! I like to look back on trips and memories with my friends. There is a whole series I created in America with one of my best friends. We travelled from LA to San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York, and I filmed it all! I also love curating Insta-stories from trips away and things I get up to. I have had some lovely feedback about my little ‘travel postcards’ in the form of Insta-stories, where I round up my trips day-by-day with pictures and captions.

3. Which destinations have been your favourite to shoot content in?

I recently got back from Paris where I absolutely loved creating content! I also loved shooting in America with my friend Shermin. She was a great photographer and we took lots of great pictures (mostly on iPhone). She has a creative brain like mine, which works well for photography. I also spent some time in the Czech Republic for a press trip, and shot some content in a small town called Karlovy Vary. It seemed to be untouched by bloggers, so it felt special making original content, in a place not yet on the popular pages of Instagram!

4. Where would you like to travel to in 2020?

I am really hoping to make it to Japan for cherry blossom season next April. Whilst away, I would also love to visit other parts of Asia, like Bali. Then later on in the year, I am hoping to do a few more European cities, such as Cologne,Reykjavík and Vienna. I’d also love to take my partner to visit my favourite place in the world – Italy!

5. What advice would you give to newbie travel bloggers?

I would say to write what you’re passionate about. Whether that be food, cultural elements or travel photography. I love travel content that feels relatable and achievable. Even if you find you have a period of time where you aren’t travelling or able to travel, find things about your local city or country to write about. Something else I also do is to connect with local bloggers in the cities I am travelling to. I did this last year in New York where I met up with a local blogger to create content and again this summer in Amsterdam. I love that blogging has allowed me to make friends all over the world!
